Anyone for dessert??

One of the team at him! visited their local pub two weeks ago for Sunday lunch, and reported back to us that they only found out after they had finished their meal and were leaving that the pub offered desserts. There were no menu’s to choose from, only a menu blackboard, which didn’t mention desserts. She found out that you had to ask if you wanted a dessert menu....... which led us to wondering just how many missed opportunities to up sell food in pubs happen on a daily basis.

him!'s Ontrack 2011 tells us that where menus are available, those who buy food and LOOK at said menus will spend 80% more. And while we are on the subject of food, him!’s Food to Go Tracking Programme tells us that only 42% of Food To Go customers said they were offered the ‘necessary extras’ needed when they purchased from food to go outlets, i.e. napkins, sauces, cutlery etc. These need to be made available - especially as we know what percentage of food to go customers eat their food either on the move, in a vehicle or at their desks...it can get very messy!
