According to this week's Grocer, within the next 5 years, for the first time EVER, there will be more over 60's on the planet than under 5's. That's a LOT more tales that begin with "in my day...".

Japan has already begun to learn about how this will affect it's shoppers habits - they have the highest proportion of elderly citizens in the world. As have other countries - in fact, Finnish retailer K-Citymart has even installed "SlowTrack" checkout lanes-a great way to slow down and give a personal shopping experience to those who want it, without holding up other shoppers to whom speed of service is important.
