M&S, Waitrose & Sainsbury’s are buzz brands

Amazon is the top ranked brand for 2011, according to the YouGov BrandIndex , heading up the overall Buzz list. It overtook both M&S and BBC from last year and is the only brand out of the three to have made an improvement year on year. The BrandIndex Buzz Ranking Top 10 includes five retailers (Amazon, M&S, John Lewis, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose), a TV network (BBC) and two technology leaders (Google and Apple).

All of these brands were rated using YouGov BrandIndex’s Buzz score, which asks respondents, "If you've heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?”. 2,000 nationally representative respondents are interviewed daily.

Cathedral City, at number 9, was probably the biggest surprise riser in 2011, Cathedral City's success shows what a well-designed TV campaign can deliver when it reaches the watercooler.
