him! recently went to visit the two new Nisa ‘Store of the Future’ concept stores, a high street format in Cardiff and a neighbourhood format in Peterborough. These stores are great examples of how retailers design a store layout that is specific to their shoppers’ needs.
The Nisa high street store in Cardiff has implemented new initiatives to include low level ceilings, strong breakfast, hot food and coffee to-go offers as well as a pick and mix for kids. There are also digital display screens to capture shoppers' attention.
The neighbourhood format store in Peterborough has been designed to meet the demands of their shoppers with more space allocated to top-up and newsagent products. 43% of Nisa shoppers visit a neighbourhood store to buy items to top-up and 25% for newspaper products.
