OnTrade

Over 5,000 pub and bar customers were interviewed face-to-face in July to help the industry become more retail focused and exploit sales opportunities.

OnTrack identifies what pub customers are looking for, how well pubs satisfy their customers' needs, the impact of the smoking ban, the inter-relationship between on-trade & off-trade, wet vs. dry sales and credibility, local sourcing.

"In today's society consumers have more choice than ever before on which to spend their hard earned, highly taxed disposable income - and less time to spend it in. Unless we start to examine the key factors influencing buying behaviour of consumers in our pubs we will never be able to respond to their changing demands. When that happens they will choose to spend their income elsewhere.

The OnTrack Programme from him! is the first industry wide research which aims to get to the core of not just what consumers want but why they act and behave in the way they do. This insight will give everyone involved the opportunity to create a performance benchmark against which we can all identify areas we need to improve.

him! also bring with them a specialist knowledge of other retail and convenience sectors from which we may be able to learn and evolve our offer to ensure all our pubs retain and improve their relevancy in the modern world. It is our belief that the OnTrack Programme is one of the most significant initiatives in the on trade and the more people who get involved the powerful the information will be. For this reason Charles Wells Pub Company will certainly be part of the programme for next year." Peter Wells, Charles Wells.
